Junior Lions Club - “People with A Big Heart;
Ready and Willing to Serve the Community”

For several years, Mountain Hospice has been working on a Memorial Garden project.  As a non-profit organization, Mountain Hospice has needed help in many areas to make this garden become a reality.  The members of the Junior Lions Club saw our struggles and need for help with this project, and overwhelmingly joined in to help us complete the construction of the garden.  Without the help of the Junior Lions Club, we may have never seen this dream come true!  The Memorial Garden is located behind the Mountain Hospice office in Belington.  The garden will have a permanent structure that will be used to permanently install personalized memory bricks engraved with names of loved ones, names of ones we honor, or engraved personal messages.  Other special items will be added to the garden, donated by the community and patient families, which will add beauty to the garden and further enhance the memory of loved ones.  Many people in the community and patient families have already purchased personalized memory bricks for the garden structure.  “We wish that each and every family we serve could have the opportunity to purchase a personalized brick, or have something donated to the garden in honor or memory of their loved one(s).”  The garden is open to the community and will be available for viewing at any time.  The purchase of bricks and or other items to beautify the garden is not Hospice related and is entirely open to everyone in the community.  Currently, many of the Lions Club members are using heavy equipment to prepare the ground and have also given us great ideas, donations, and other specialties.  Mountain Hospice expects to have the garden completed this summer with a reception and celebration open to the community and for the people who purchased personalized bricks.  Shannon Gear, Director of Development, stated, “I am so glad to finally see the Memorial Garden almost finished."  If you would like more information about the garden, please contact Shannon at 823-3922.
