History of Mountain Hospice of Belington, WV

An Established Hospice Serving All of North Central WV

Mountain Hospice was established in 1991 to provide care and support for terminally ill patients and their families in Barbour County, West Virginia. At that time, our name was The Hospice of Barbour County. Realizing our goals and dreams of offering our services throughout the region did not fit our original name, we changed our name to Mountain Hospice in 1994.

Founded to Provide Outstanding Care, Companionship, and Nurturing

The original founders of Mountain Hospice set out to change the hospice service industry in the area. They were disheartened to see people go through this hard phase of life alone, isolated, or in need of care. Through their hard work and constant nurturing, Mountain Hospice grew and expanded to provide hospice services to a growing number of terminally ill patients and their families. The relentless efforts of the founders and volunteers generated funds and donations that helped this organization develop and flourish into one of the most outstanding hospices in the state. We are very proud that our service area has expanded to serve seven counties throughout West Virginia. What our founders started and instilled in each employee of Mountain Hospice has continued to grow into a recognized non-profit organization that provides outstanding hospice services.
